Polycom
and its employees believe that part of being a
successful company is also being a socially responsible
and involved corporate citizen in the global community.
Our
Global Citizenship Program leverages the strength of
Polycom's great products, resources and people to:
- improve access to and the quality of education and
healthcare worldwide, and
- provide support to communities in need worldwide.
Our
steering committee and volunteer regional employee
councils meet regularly to identify qualified charities
and causes, and apportion funds and equipment. The
regional councils also coordinate local activities
through employee matching funds and volunteer time.
In
addition to these local activities, Polycom currently
sponsor two corporate philanthropies:
Medical Missions for Children
is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the
medical needs of catastrophically ill children in
underserved areas of the United States
and in international communities. Medical Missions uses
donated Polycom video conferencing equipment to connect
a global network of pediatric healthcare facilities in
36 medically underserved countries with the volunteer
services of 26 tier-one
U.S.
based and four international medical institutions to
diagnose and treat children. Recently, Polycom donated
several high definition HDX video systems and plasma
displays for a new Pediatric
Oncology
Center
linking oncologists at St. Joseph's
Hospital in Paterson, New Jersey with
renowned St. Jude's Hospital in
Nashville,
Tennessee. These systems help
doctors confer, diagnose and treat particularly
difficult cases. For more information on Medical
