The Polycom HDX™ 9000 series is a further breakthrough platform with the broadest flexibility and highest levels of performance to support any video collaboration application, including high definition (HD).  The Polycom HDX solutions deliver an experience like none other with the comprehensive benefits of HD Voice, HD video and HD content sharing, and feature many industry-first capabilities such as simultaneous HD dual streams for People and Content, Siren™22 kHz StereoSurround™ audio and unmatched HD camera performance.  The pure clarity, rich detail and extended fidelity allow for improved productivity and efficiency on a scale never before available in conferences over distance, approaching the same value as face-to-face meetings.

In January 2007, Polycom announced announced new high definition (HD) telepresence solutions that enable people working at a distance to communicate as if they were all in the same room.  The Polycom RealPresence^™ Experience High Definition (RPX^™ HD) telepresence solutions provide an immersive collaboration experience unlike any other with unique features; they include full eight- or 16-foot HD cinematic views, Siren^™ 22 kHz StereoSurround HD sound, and EyeConnect^™ technology that puts the camera at eye level for more natural face-to-face interaction.  Polycom’s standards-based HDX^™ 9000 HD video systems are at the core of the RPX HD, making it the only telepresence solution able to call to any of the million-plus video systems already deployed on desktops and in conference rooms worldwide. 

Network Systems

The Polycom MGC™ multipoint control unit (MCU) provides the most advanced features of any conferencing bridge and designed for mixed network and Service Provider environments.  It’s the only MCU which functions both as a multimedia processor and an H.3xx gateway, and its features make the remote meeting experience more like a face-to-face meeting.  Continuous presence of up to 21 different layouts can be changed “on the fly”; multi-way transcoding allows sites with different frame rates, connection speeds, audio algorithms, resolutions, and network protocols to transparently connect with one another; a flexible suite of system and conference management applications empower users and reduce the need for on-site maintenance.

Launched in April 2005, the Polycom ReadiSeries platform is an integrated suite of solutions enabling enterprise organisations to easily deploy, manage, and scale rich media conferencing and collaboration services over mixed network environments.

Uniquely built on an Advanced Telecom Computing Architecture (ATCA), the RMX 2000, launched in 2006 is a real-time media conferencing platform optimised for use on next generation IP networks and designed from the ground up to be at the heart of a unified communications network. The RMX 2000 simplifies the delivery and management of multipoint video (multiple locations on a single call) as well as unified conferencing (video, voice, and content all on a single call) for enterprises that require an infrastructure that supports room and extensive desktop deployments of video collaboration, on-demand or instantaneous conferencing, and high-bandwidth, processing-intensive applications such as high definition (HD) video and telepresence.  Capabilities enabled in RMX 2000 Version 2.0 will lay the groundwork for integration efforts that will bring next generation video communications applications to market with Polycom’s strategic alliance partners in the service provider IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) infrastructure, IP PBX and presence-based collaboration markets.
