After transformation, now Ovi, globally service providing. What value Ovi can bring to people
Devices on their own are not enough anymore. We want to capture new growth in our industry by creating what we expect to be biggest platform for services on the mobile.
At Nokia, we will continue to differentiate our devices from the competition by adding new experiences and value through software and services. Doing so will help to support our average selling prices, and drive device sales.
Our Services are focused on Ovi Maps, Ovi Music and Ovi Store as well as Nokia Messaging and Nokia Life Tools.
Services highlights:
Ovi Maps provides global car and pedestrian navigation, premium content and location aware social networking, all for free. People in 185 countries are downloading the new Ovi Maps at a tremendous rate
In Music we are now offering Comes with Music in 27 markets, and the A La Carte Music Store in 33 markets. Nokia is now by far the most globally scaled digital music provider on the planet.
In 2009, we covered some 30 percent of the Nokia smartphone range with our Music Stores. And during 2010, the coverage will grow to 70 percent.
We’re upgrading our Music Service to Ovi Music in all markets during 2010.
At our Ovi Store, we are making more local content and apps to be more widely available than ever before.
We are approaching about 15 downloads per second, 24/7, with daily highs of over 1000 downloads per minute.
We’re now fully localized in 18 countries with 60 operators supporting integrated mobile billing
Games still are the leading category for premium content, followed by utility, entertainment and productivity applications.
In messaging we have two offerings: One for people who have an Email account– the Nokia Messaging Service, and one for those who don’t – Ovi Mail.
In February 2010 we were at at 6.5 million users, and we are on a steady path with around one million new consumers per month.
Nokia Life Tools is our suite of services primarily for people in developing countries. Currently available in India and Indonesia, and we’ve gone from zero to 1 million in just 8 months.
It gives access to services like information on crops, prices and weather. It can be used to learn a second language, check horoscopes, or get the latest news and entertainment.
We will continue expanding to new countries, and we prioritize markets according to the highest potential for the service.
